Deze dierentuin is anders dan alle andere dierentuinen waar je ooit geweest bent. Waar de hedendaagse dierentuin een grote commerciele bedoeling is met op elke 100 meter een eetgelegenheid en terrasje... more »This Zoo is different than all the other zoos where you've ever been. Where the contemporary Zoo a great commercial intention is 100 metres on each with a food court and terraces, this is more a zoo as you see in old movies. The other reviews are not all equally positive, and in part is that right. The accommodation of the animals are sometimes for West-European commercial dierentuintsandaarden what substandard. Also there has been some decline and overdue maintenance. But this is something that in Germany more. Where in Netherlands everything is specified in policies and regulations (which makes for high rates and uniformity) is in Germany some more space for authenticity (which is not purely positive, see e.g. small shelters), but what also brings positive feelings for me. just like bv. German playgrounds, where you see that playground equipment in Netherlands for 30 years ago have been replaced this zoo is also an experience in itself. The lofts of the animals are as you see in old movies. High fences to a gravel road where the animals are shown. For me it was really like I'm 40 years back in time went (and I'm still no 40). I found that itself a beautiful experience. The Zoo is run by (I believe) only 3 people. Two of them are the children of the founder. Isabelle come you actually in the park because she does pretty much everything. She helps during peak moments in the hospitality industry, then to the little train to run to as machinist. A Zoo running with only 3 man is an achievement in itself. The Zoo has a number of unusual animals, such as Tigers, Lions and a collar bear. But in addition, there are also much more regular animals such as deer, beavers, porcupines and the like. Yet it is largely not in a regular Zoo animals you will encounter. That makes this Zoo also fun. It's different than usual, on each plane. What is also striking is that when an animal gets older, that they in the Eifel Zoo their old age may wear off. The collar bear is already quite old, but at the back of the park is also a separate environment for an old tiger. That is too old to younger animals to stay, and wear her old day therefore elsewhere on the park. In a more traditional Zoo would not be able to continue such a beast, and has to go. In my view, this sign of the love of the animals. It is not merely a commercial attraction, but the people of this family business have heart for the animals. Even though I can imagine that that financial is not always easy. Nevertheless, in all shelters to find fresh food. Also see the animals look good, so I don't have the idea that they have it bad. In the end is also the little train (which runs from 1 hour, every hour) enormous worth. The little train drive through a piece with deer, donkeys and goats. You can then then if the train is standing still with wild enter (a EUR 1,-for a box of good format and which is enough for a ride with 2 children). The animals come in with their heads in the wagon, and you can get them from the hand. Great for children. In short, I would certainly recommend this zoo to anyone who is in the neighborhood. It's a fun afternoon and absolutely different than any other Zoo that you've seen.

I'm an Echeverria and even as a little boy so often was always with my grandparents, who have lived in Pronsfeld in the Eifel Zoo. Later I did this with my children. The Zoo has obviously seen better times that but still think it's still for small children an experience here is to come, and we should enjoy as adults simply because the kids have fun. So if you are even close to go and supports also the Zoo.

There were highs and lows for the park itself since then, but it was always tries to show as many different animals to the visitors. Also was a retirement home ensures older animals here, z.B the bear "Mike" or the Tiger, made here which from an American force. The little train has come even in the years, drives but still to the feeding place of deer and goats. There are including Wildcat, Eagle owls, Kakadu, Panther, Skunk, raccoon, and a lot more. Across a Lake, children can back and ride a cable car. There is also a playground with carousel and slide. The entrance is family friendly, parking is ample and available free of charge. Recommended!
We found this small zoo by small misunderstanding. Weil we've been told to visit great and big Eifel Park, aa result we found this Eifel zoo. I don't regret. It was big enough for half day trip. With sunny weather it was charming experience. Nice for kids as they can feed the animals with dried corn. There's even small train inside ehich you can use for another views hidden from the paths. Next time we'll try the bigger brother Eifel Park so we can compare.
Great small zoo situated in the German woods of the Eifel region. Worth a detour for a nice family outing.
This is horrible. Are such things still allowed in Europa anno 2016? The feeling of the animal suffering made me sick. :s
Lots of animals that can be hand fed.
