Checking out their web site before your visit will help you understand this museum. It is very unconventional. Things have been left as they were when the factory closed in the 1980s. There is a room.... more »

This is one of my most favourite places in Bielefeld. It was "found" in the 1980ies abandoned and left as it was found. It is quite an experience to walk through the factory rooms, looking like the seamstresses are just on lunch break. Only open on Sunday, but well worth the wait. Occasionally there are concerts in the adjacent former owners villa. Take your camera and be transported back in time.

Es ist wirklich ein wunderschöner Ort, es wirkt als ob Die Zeit da stehengeblieben ist. Durch die Intressante und kompetente Führung, kann man sich das Leben und Arbeiten der Näherinnen sehr gut vorstellen. Ich bin durchaus zu Frieden und empfehle jedem eine Führung zu machen. Nur ein paar Warnungen vorweg: Die Treppen und Flure sind recht eng, es ist nicht gut durchlüftet, die Wäsche, Kleidung, Bücher und Papiere fangen an zu zerfallen, und das riecht man auch. Vielleicht könntet ihr Kopfschmerzen oder leichten Schwindel bekommen, falls ihr darauf anfällig seit. Zu mindestens war es bei mir so.

It really is a beautiful place, it looks as if time has stopped. Through the intressante and competent guidance, one can imagine the life and work of the seamstresses very well. I am quite at peace and recommend everyone to take a lead. Just a few warnings in advance: The stairs and corridors are quite narrow, it is not well ventilated, the laundry, clothes, books and papers are beginning to disintegrate, and you smell that too. You might get headaches or mild dizziness if you've been prone to it since. At least that was the case with me.
