Mosel Wein Museum, Bernkastel-Kues

4.0
#3 of 12 in Things to do in Bernkastel-Kues
Immerse yourself in the history and production of wine--and taste and buy a little, too--at Mosel Wein Museum, which is in one of Germany's oldest viticultural regions. The museum features an interactive foray into the world of wine, with a flight simulation over the valley and vineyards, an olfactory challenge at the aroma bar, and many artifacts and informational videos. For a single fee, taste any of the 150-plus wines available in the cellar to make a well-educated decision on what to purchase. To make the most of your tasting, start before lunch, and then enjoy a meal at the cafe for a small break before continuing. We realised only during our visit, that these are actually two separate attractions. From entrance to the left is the museum, where for 5€ you can watch two videos on the region and wine (one in Germa...  more »

This vinotheque State in Bernkastel-kues. This is the Mittel Mösel. Here come all the winemakers in one super wine cellar. Buy a test glass for €18,-putting you in the vaults of this fantastic wine centre unlimited should taste more than 140 wines. With every wine is what the residual value of the sugars are and how much the wine contains acid. The driest wine (Zero) has only 0.5 grams per liter of sugar, and the sweetest Lieblich has 130 grams per litre. Everything is clearly based on a color system. Red is lieblich either sweet, green is feinherb either halbtrocken and trocken is yellow. There is also a Division with sparkling wine or bubbles. And a few more red wines. We tasted 18 different wines and eventually bought 9 bottles. Fun to do on a rainy day.

  • Love this place! Hundreds of Rieslings to sample from for only 20 euro! Absolutely wonderful experience!!!
  • Love this place. 150 wines to sample. I sampled a few more than once.
  • The Mosel wine selection is impressive! The Museum is located in the village of Kues, if one comes across the Moselle bridge, it is still 100 meters straight out and then right! The Museum can taste for €18 so many wines as you like (but noble sweet wines are excluded) is conducted in the vaulted cellar, what huge proportions. Sogut like each winery which has a name on the Moselle, is represented here! Impressive! And you can try, try and try again!

  • But wasn't there. But looks nice from the outside

  • Very nice Enoteca! But: The wines were shelf from the platforms and in the tasting - if one has found an employee who was responsible for populating. Very bad, hence only 3 stars.
