Whenever I just happened on Saturday in Berlin, I must wander over the winter field weekly market in Schöneberg and browse the stalls. It is offered to a wide range of fruit and vegetables, of which much in organic quality, but sausage, cheese and bread. You can try many. There are also many little things for your daily needs and even clothing. To the market many inexpensive restaurants and pubs for a cafe or mittagslunch.

  • Great food and vegetable market. Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 8am year round. There are some artistic items in the market as well as places to buy ready made food to eat there. A place where local residents come to shop.
  • if you are looking for a true market experience, look no further. This is your perfect spot! From bio to organic and imported, whatever you feel like that day. Plus excellent food to bite between buying mango and kale.Must do for all who love proper markets.
  • Not as cheap as some other markets but lovely atmosphere. Look for the tiramisu
  • Nice market with fresh fruits and vegetables and quite a few stands to have a lunch or a snack at. If you are not from the neighborhood it is worth a trip on Saturdays, but not on Wednesdays (not so many stands are usually there).
  • Looking forward to a German market. This was very small and very poor. It may be as we want off season on a Wednesday.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
