URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART is an international institution for urban contemporary art (UCA) and projects.Arrange to visit Urban Nation and other attractions in Berlin using our Berlin online route builder.
The vision of a global art community, a network without limits, became reality on September 16th when URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART opened its doors. Its Creative Director and catalyst for the vision is Yasha Young. URBAN NATION is supported by Berliner Leben, a foundation of Gewobag.
With the support of LOTTO-Stiftung a building from the Wilhelminian era in the district of Berlin-Schöneberg has been converted into the URBAN NATION museum.
The URBAN NATION initiative goes beyond the classical notion of the museum and reinvents the idea with activities that have an impact beyond the four walls of the museum. Since 2013, URBAN NATION under the curatorial direction of Miss Young has been inviting international luminaries and aspiring talents of urban contemporary art to Berlin to show their works within the urban fabric of Berlin: on building façades, house walls and shop windows. URBAN NATION has been transforming Berlin's facades into a giant outdoor gallery and connecting people with their city using outdoor art and integrative neighbourhood projects.
URBAN NATION is a place of dialogue, a meeting place and an archive.

Berlin is surely one of the world's street art capitals. That's visible in many places, but the best are the East side gallery (see that review) and this one. The Urban nation is little bit off the... more »

Pros: Free. Beautiful works. Well produced. An introduction to an important branch of art. Reasonable size (two floors, about 45 minutes to view) Cons: Is it art or illustration? Most artists have a single work so you don't get a sense of the range of a single artist's interests or evolution of their approach over time.

One of the first street art museum. Just visited during Urban Nation Biennale. It’s filled house of pieces of art. The space is nice in a historical building. It’s worth a visit!
-
It's not my typical kind of museum. Still, there is no discussion that this is art. Colorful, new, imaginative, vivid and beautiful. The works shown are remarkable. The place is very reachableb entrance free but I can only suggest a donation.

Really interesting exposition. I makes you feel the urban art. Very recommended
-
Street art taken to a high level, with good short films that explain the development of the art and community that create it. Current. Up to date. Inspiring.
