Treptower Park, Berlin

4.6
#3 of 55 in Parks in Berlin
At Treptower Park, you can walk across the historic Abbey Bridge. On the other side housed in an old observatory, you'll find the giant, refracting telescope, which is 130 metric tons (143.3 tons). Before you cross, though, take time to admire this side of the river. The park is one of Germany's first recreation areas specifically designed for public use. The 4 km (2.5 mi) pathway near the riverbank is home to restaurants and cafes. You'll also find the famous Soviet war memorial created in 1949. Hop on one of the boat tours if you'd like a relaxing ride around the area. With our world travel planner, Berlin attractions like Treptower Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The pedal power Park is one of the 4 historically preserved parks from the last century. The Soviet war memorial is particularly impressive. It was built after the second world war on the central area of the former game and sport lawn under the direction of the Soviet military administration from 1946 to 1949 and occupies an area of about 100,000 m ². The War Memorial is a Memorial and cemetery of Soviet war graves and stands for the some 80,000 Red Army soldiers fallen during the battle of Berlin in the final stages of the second world war. The top Sunday destination for families before the turn.

  • There are different ways to treat modern Germans can throw funny jokes on 9 may, but one that people do not take away: they learn from their mistakes! Well here is a seemingly ... Since the collapse of the GDR has passed already more than twenty years, one city doesn't make munipaletet, but Park is in excellent condition, it can be seen that he carefully looked after. This Park is a sample of a pure German practicality and punctiliousness-swept walkway, bushes and trees pruned, all renovated in. .. The entrance to the Park is free, free. People are not too much, maybe we were in the off season in January. So we saw only friendly gardener, speshhashhego. Strange nation they ... seemingly the loser of the war country, but these people not only don't forget not the bright page of its history; they sincerely repent, expressing it through his friendliness and grooming for our monuments in their territory. Well, in conclusion we can say that from the Center to go far. You can get there either by taxi (approx 15-17 €) or S-Bahn (city rail) station, however, will have to go about 600-700 meters.

  • Amazing park. Good example of what makes Berlin unique with its divided past and the presence of the communist side of history. It is important for all the Western to know and understand the sacrifice of so many soldiers to liberate Berlin and finally end the war on Europe. Besides that it is a huge park, good for running, cycling and walking slowly through its long paths. Enjoy the abandoned Theme Park in the south with its eerie atmosphere, especially on Autumn-Winter.
  • Amazing memorial with a lot of history. The Soviets definitely knew how to honor their veterans. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Berlin. A somber reminder to a dark point in world history.
  • Very impresive park and monument, commemorating the fallen Soviets Soldiers during the World War II Berlin incursion and the end of the war. Is definitly a must place to go in berlin.
  • Treptower Park is a nice place for a walk, near the river, and closed to the S bahn, step out of the station, and you are directly in the Park. There are some nice Cafe shops, but not sure about the opening hours. Depends on the day and period visiting this site.😉
  • Very interesting park, visit the museums and Observatory. Very relaxing in summer but also popular.
