Treptower Park, Berlin

4.6
#3 of 35 in Parks in Berlin
At Treptower Park, you can walk across the historic Abbey Bridge. On the other side housed in an old observatory, you'll find the giant, refracting telescope, which is 130 metric tons (143.3 tons). Before you cross, though, take time to admire this side of the river. The park is one of Germany's first recreation areas specifically designed for public use. The 4 km (2.5 mi) pathway near the riverbank is home to restaurants and cafes. You'll also find the famous Soviet war memorial created in 1949. Hop on one of the boat tours if you'd like a relaxing ride around the area. With our world travel planner, Berlin attractions like Treptower Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • After many geopolitical views, on the other side of the road from Treptower, there is an 'oasis'. It is a place that just you find tourists, only families and friends Berlin, sitting on the grass enjoying a lunch. Without this visit surely not we would have brought us a complete idea of the city. The perfect ending for the visit to Berlin. ;)

  • still OK, since there is a the Cenotaph, S-Bahn station, an island and a ship restaurant visit. Also a boat trip is possible from here. Somewhat further away is the old Spree Park, you can also visit at the weekend. Sometimes there is also a flea market.

  • This is a large park with a huge statue of soldier. The whole park was dedicated to the soviet soldiers lost in the WW2. It is located little further from the center therefore it is not crowded at all...  more »

  • Good area for walking and relaxing on the grass. It's quite empty in terms of cafes/bars/restaurants. And if you manage to find something - it's sausages and fast-food.
  • Russian memorial is calm and good place. You can reach via S bahn or Bus. Bit outside Berlin but worth visiting.
  • It's an excellent historical garden. You can feel the smell of the WW2 because of the atmosphere of the garden. You definitely must go there while visiting Berlin!
  • Beautiful park running along the Spree river. I hopped off at one S station and walked across the park to the next. It was a warm day so the park was full of people and vendors. Hard to find a washroom so go before!
  • Really nice park in Berlin, we can enjoy Spree and park, it has a small island in the Spree, and you can rent a boat here to enjoy Spree. Near to abandoned Amusement Park.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
