Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.

  • Very nice and chill beach area. Feels like holiday. Tips : they have student discount and they don't allow glass and knife inside.
  • Too much algae in the water this time. Almost 6 Euros entry fee. Quiet crowded.
  • I really liked the place in the summer. You can have some food like ice cream or fries near the beach. Apparently this place has a long history and there are interesting pictures telling it.
  • This is a very popular place on hot days. Best is to go late in the afternoon or when the temperature is below 26°c, then you have more chance to enjoy the place with a decent density. The charm from the 1920s remains unchanged.
  • The beach is large, wide and sandy. There's a concession stand with fair-type foods, and on the very far right past the beach a place to rent sports stuff for windsurfing, stand up paddle board or kayaking. The water is super shallow, only waist deep at the far end of the swim area, but it seems that everyone goes out past the signs to swim in deeper water.
