  • The Sony Center is a building complex located at the Potsdamer Platz and was opened in 2000. Currently no longer owned the Sony but has also kept that designation. Is there where originally there was the center of town deep in the early 20th century. Unfortunately most of the buildings were destroyed during the second world war and that were, starting in 1961 with the construction of the wall that passed right in the middle of the square, were demolished. In fact, the GDR decided to make their area near the wall almost a no-man's land on the border guarded day and night by the army and the police of Eastern Germany. After the fall of the Berlin wall on 9 November 1989, the square began to revive and turn into a new Centre. As part of this redevelopment was built the Sony Center which perhaps is the tallest building in particular. Within the centre there are shops, restaurants, conference centres, hotels, condominiums, offices, museums, cinemas and theatres. The restaurants and bars are quite typical, with little tourism and of course also not really low prices, but you don't want to miss a visit coming to Berlin. I've been several times: every time I come to Berlin there I jump, and this time I brought my in-laws both day and night, but I still advise to go there in the evening, where the beautiful dome/circus tent in full sail will glow different colors (see the pictures I took).

  • Was a mountain and finally we were disappointed. Architecture is certainly original, but on the inside, except restaurants there is nothing special. What is interesting is especially his vision from top or from her s Platz, the contrast between the modern and the old vegetation.

  • A very cool, upscale location. A good place to see movies in all sorts of constellations (regular, 3D, 3D IMAX) and they always play English movies in the original version. Tickets are obviously on the more expensive end, but the theaters are roomy and clean and the seats are comfortable, so that makes up for the price. The Sony Center is also home to some restaurants, a Starbucks and a small book store, so there are a few things to do while you wait for your movie to start.
  • Good cinema. Several big screens , good service , but not the cheapest prices. Expect to pay around 15 (plus/minus) EUR for a ticket. Probably the most comfortable cinema in Berlin if you want to see a movie in English.
  • The construction of this place is really amazing and they also have a cinema where you can watch the movies in their original language. It is a pretty amazing place to go. Also, the quality of the movie theater is impressive and the prices are very reasonable!
  • Lively location full of restaurants and bars. A great place to visit to grab a beer and a bite to eat. Very international so best avoided if you're looking for a more traditional german experience.
  • Modern architecture, beautiful fountain, and many places to sit to rest the feet. Also a great people watching area for those into such endeavors!

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
