  • It is a large equestrian statue located in the middle of the most famous Avenue of Berlin. It gives packing and glory and attracts the attention of visitors to the buildings and squares which surround it.

  • The equestrian statue stands on height of the Humboldt University on the median strip of the Boulevard Unter den Linden under. It was built in 1851 on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of his throne by the sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch. The monumental work is considered to be one of the most important sculptures of the 19th century. The many ornate and decorated pedestal has a stretch of almost 7 x 9 meters. The overall height of the artwork is 13.5 meters. It takes quite a while, if you want to watch all of the details of the work alone. It is worth but in any case. For my taste, it is one of the most beautiful Frémiet, I've seen so far. The realism in the representation and the countless details are impressive.
