Rausch Schokoladenhaus, Berlin

#3 of 77 in Shopping in Berlin
One of Berlin's classic shopping destinations, Rausch Schokoladenhaus seduces chocoholics with its rows of handsomely packaged truffles and pralines. The store opened in 1999, after two major chocolate-making families joined to form one of the largest chocolatiers in the world. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of its modern manufacturing facility and admire the huge chocolate sculptures of some of Berlin's most recognizable landmarks. Though you cannot buy or taste these chocolate masterpieces, you can choose from over 200 varieties of pre-packaged chocolate goodies at the on-site factory outlet store. Finish your visit at the upstairs cafe, which serves traditional chocolate drinks and cakes, as well as savory dishes seasoned with cocoa. • Delicious chocolate and not excessively expensive. There are a wide variety of products to choose and there are different shapes of chocolate inside! On the upper floor have a small cafe where you serve superbly. It was terrific, I would without a doubt!

  • The best cup of chocolate that I've taken in a long time. An extensive list of chocolates. Prepared in a thousand ways and presented in an exquisite way. It will be by serving us refuge from the intense cold in Berlin, but we still remember the cup of chocolate we took there. Apart from that, the ground floor shop is all a delight for the palate. A visit is worthwhile.

  • I visited the last time I went to Berlin, the shop downstairs provides a wide selection of great chocolate. I recommend the Venezuela and the Papua New Guinea. We then went upstairs and have milk chocolate drinks and the mousse tarts and symphonies. Delicious, and the service was great. If ever in Berlin I recommend to anyone to go there, even if it's for little gifts to bring back home.
  • An elegant chocolate producer that doesn't exclude the everyday folks from coming in, perusing their selection and purchasing candy. The place is filled with Berlin buildings and other items made completely out of chocolate. Quite the edible and artistic accomplishment. The chocolate candies purchased from behind the glass case were all unique and tasty. They had several dozen options to choose from so choosing was difficult. The staff was friendly, too. As soon as I recover from my binge chocolate eating I'll be back for more.
  • Really cool chocolate store next to the Berlin square. This store has crazy and amazing scale models of ships, airplanes, and buildings made out of chocolate! Several are larger than a full grown man. Plus the chocolate is delicious and there is a 2nd floor restaurant that serves unique chocolate inspired foods. Chocoholic's heaven!
  • Heaven for a chocolate lover. I was here almost an hour perusing and ended up spending far too much. It was just beautiful in there and the chocolate was fantastic. Staff spoke great english too which was a pleasent surprise
  • Nicest experience thus far. Was expecting it not to be child friendly but was pleasantly surprised. Food was splendid and the experience and service were so friendly and I formative. Can't wait to go back. Truffles were eating with smiles on our faces. Feel prices were more than acceptable, wish we could have bought more.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
