Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web
Mitte, considered to be the heart of Berlin, doesn't feature many beautiful old buildings, because the area was significantly damaged in World War II. However, you can visit Checkpoint Charlie (an important Berlin Wall checkpoint), Brandenburg Gate (an old city gate rebuilt in the 18th century), Museum Island (a complex of five internationally significant museums), and the Deutscher Dom (a large church). In the center of the city, this area is packed with bars, shops, and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. • Talk of "Centre" in Berlin is quite complicated, but this neighborhood is very close to the idea. The area comes alive at all hours: street performers, shops, churches (Nikolai quarter), important monuments (two out of all: the FERNSEHTURM and ROTHES RATHAUS), museums (district Mitte is the "Museum Island"). Crossroads of the city of Berlin.
