Create an itinerary including Mauermuseum - Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie
Mauermuseum - Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie was German's only Cold War border crossing that permitted foreigners to pass through between 1961 and 1990. Though it once represented the separation of East and West Germany, this spot is now just one of the city's many tourist attractions. The checkpoint achieved mythological status because residents of the city were not allowed to use it. Look for the famous "You Are Now Leaving the American Sector" sign. This iconic marker of the past is one of the most photographed spots in the city. Nearby, you can explore the exhibits of a private museum dedicated to the checkpoint and various Berlin Wall memorabilia. • While there's no doubt this is a historic spot, its importance is somehow diminished by the other touristic attractions next to it. Still, it's worth a visit for history buffs.

  • The Checkpoint itself is lost in all of the surrounding touristy attractions, including the obligatory McDonalds. So many tourists it is difficult to get a clear view of the Check Point much less...

  • An excellent museum. Visited here twice once in 1987 prior to the Berlin wall coming down and then in later years. It has not changed much and should not. What a great history lesson of humanitarian struggles through the war. Ukraine no doubt will have similar war museums in the coming years. This museum is a must see when in Berlin.
  • All was great except for the audio guide -impossible to locate the numbers for audio, no logical sequence in the story at all, no logical museum map. A good audio guided structure would improve the experience 100x.
  • Some nice details, but there is just too much text and sometimes you are not really given reason to care about the people the text speaks of...
  • Can't say anything about the museum. The souvenir shop is quite nice though. Bought there the gifts for my family. The prices are very fair and the selection of products ls wider than that of the nearby shops. The clerk was a friendly and polite guy who took the mask thing quite seriously (in a good way, obviously).
  • Good overall with a lot of interesting information. But the layout is a mess and there are many typing errors. Needs redesigning.
