  • A simple statue, but worth a visit on your way past. I like the way the meaning has changed. originally this celebrated the Soviet Union, but now it is a reminder of reunification. The temptation must...  more »
  • Currently the Marx-Engels Forum is in works, but sculptures you can visit and in fact they are very popular, and is just 100 metres from the Cathedral, in a park next to the river spree. The sculptural set is impressive. He was carried out as a tribute to the authors of the Communist Manifesto in 1848 on behalf of the leaders of the defunct GDR.

  • It must visit to these two great philosophers, since as this there is little homages to them and even less in Europe. Located on the Bank of the River, it is next to the Museum Island, so you don't have any hits to take a visit. In addition, the Park is very quiet and is very busy.

  • Very cool cold war era statue of Karl Marx in the park, along with another prominent German philosopher from the same era.
  • Karl Marx was born in Tier, a small town in Prussia (now in Germany). He was a student of Berlin University and worked in Berlin before he moved to Paris. A prominent street in Berlin also is also named Karl Marx Allee (street). Interestingly a railway station in in former West Berlin was also named after him, even through the period of cold war. Yes. Marx and Engels are still there in Berlin!
  • Its a little sad to note that the famous statue of Marx and Engels wears a dark, gloomy and desertred look at night in otherwise glittering German capital.
  • Just visit if you are nearby. There are statues of Marx and Engels and some plates describing the socialism.
  • Spoiled by the cretins who let their devil's spawn offspring climb all over a historic statue.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
