Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.

  • Great little-visited museum off the tourist track. One of the older museums in Berlin in a beautiful old building, it is all about Berlin and Brandenburg from the founding of the city up until the war. Has some cool pieces of weaponry and porcelain, etc. from the city. They redid a lot of the displays last year to include English text. Cool little Café as well!
  • A really beautiful museum with lots of items from berlin's history! I really liked it but every description was only in German so it was a bit difficult to keep up with it; still full of beauty and worth a visit!
  • Very interseting artifical objects outside of museum (statue & bells) and graffit are appear in the same radius, I am very curios to go inside but don't have lot of time...
  • Great collection with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the information is presented non-coherently. Not suitable for tourists unless you have extensive historical knowledge and are comfortable reading in German. Note, the building is not barrier-free.
  • Interesting and varied range of exhibits. Information about exhibits mostly in Germqn with hardly any information in English. Well worth a visit.
