Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.

  • The starting point for “Bird Song” is the artist Gladys Mgudlandlu (1917-1979). It is a compact exhibition. Very interesting if you like modern art, which I do. Includes paintings and sculptures - the...  more »
  • We visited the exhibition of Bhupen Khakhar's paintings "You Can't Please All" and were impressed that the "conservative" Deutsche Bank featured the often provocative work of one of India's most renow...  more »
  • It was pretty disappointing! I felt that I wasted my money paying the entrance ticket. Low quality of contemporary art and very small. At least they could have it for free!  more »

  • Interesting contemporary art exhibition, nice small location, very fair pricing. We took a guided tour and our guide was engaging and very knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to visiting again once a new show is up.
  • I saw a great exhibition here. Nice cafe and museum shop, great exhibition space, well curated.
  • Nice little gallery in Berlin. Pro tip: Its free on Mondays
  • Mondays are free, and the exhibitions alternate. I saw a brilliant exhibition with a massive Jackson Pollock painting and the works surrounding that style and epoch. Worth checking out, even if it weren't Monday.
  • Very small but interesting exhibition on contemporary art. I spend 20 minutes and enjoyed it a lot, beware of the back room - it contains interesting art but in includes quite explicit sexual material not suitable for children (or homophobic people 😈). It is a quite calm place good to escape the crowds of museum island for a little while
