  • Significant outdoor art and memorial to an important effort to rescue a modest number of children who would have been murdered. Important to bear witness.  more »
  • The Kindertransport Memorial is in the heart of the Centre in close proximity to the railway station Friedrichstraße. The monument was inaugurated on November 30, 2008, 70 years after the date of the first deportation of the children, by the Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Petra Pau.  The work represents two colour groups of children, broken suitcase, and a track which symbolizes the departures of children in life and in death. Two of the children sculptures reminiscent of the children could escape with the transport of children or children trains the terror of the National Socialists, without parents. The Group of five children sculptures reminiscent of the more than 1.5 million children were killed in the Holocaust. The monument has touched us deeply. Simply but eloquently. We have looked at long alone there and have become very thoughtful.
