  • First of all, it is in the Dahlem "bold" in Berlin. This place is "surprisingly" absolutely not damaged during the war. Villas and mansions still those pre-war years, large areas of trees around them, which stopjatsot years, immediately organise among their younger relatives. It's quiet and noble, fresh forest air. When you leave the old S-Bahn station "Hohenzollerndamm", if you find yourself in another city, and after 8 stops on bus 115 already appear near the forest. Over three hundred meters after stopping the villas and the asphalt road ends and you find yourself in the forest with enormous trees, and the entrance to it is preceded by a small shield with the inscription "here, your dog is free, release the leash!". I'm a little surprised, but my task was quickly to pass these 1100 metres on Castle completely deserted forest and I forgot about this ad. One of the oldest Castle in Berlin (and castles, especially in the western part, in plenty!), it is almost 500 years old, stands on the shore of the Lake. It was originally planned as a classic hunting lodge, and turned out to be still a small castle, with adjoining rooms. Hunting, of course-full of trophies. No other details of the Interior, luxurious furniture or not, there are only old fireplace. But the walls of his small rooms is decorated with paintings of Lucas Cranach the elder, a contemporary-master of the Castle. Good to see his work in art galleries in Berlin and Prague, but this castle they somehow surprising on the spot as if inscribed in this modest Entourage. ...

  • Nice view, amazing forest, small house with beer garden. Interesting exhibition of old master paintings... But just only guided tours
  • Secluded Renaissance hunting lodge in the Grünewald. The main building has an unexpectedly excellent collection of art work (particularly on the theme of hunting) as well as helpful explanations of the place of hunting in Prussian court culture. Not straightforward to get to, but the half hour walk through the forest is part of the charm of this place.
  • Kleinod am See.
  • War Ok.
  • It looks bad

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
