  • We visited the nearby Berlin Unterwelten and in between the tours we went up the Flak Tower. Amazing concrete building high up on a man made hill offering great views over Berlin. Due to the height of...  more »
  • The only way to understand part of what was to be in Germany during WWII is to enter this semi collapse building, it's like the time froze still. Lets remind what went trough and learn from it.  more »
  • We did a Berliner Unterwelten tour and the guide recommended we visit the flak tower across the road. It is a short but moderate climb to the top, where you get a view of Gesundbrunnen and the surroun...  more »

  • interesting site of two bunkers from WWII but don't expect to see the "real thing" like in the movies. The impressive main structure is somehow complete and offers amazing views as located atop the only (?) big hill of the region !
  • Awesome view point not many people are aware of. To get to the top, you can either choose the stairs or the slope. Stairs are bit of a hike. Majority of the famous spots in berlin is visible from here. The spot was used as a security tower to check air raids during war. Must see place for causal travelers or locals.
  • Cool part of WWII history. Sadly covered with lots of graffiti. We just walked around and on top but I’d love to tour inside. I’d like to learn more about what looks like extensive battle damage on the structure.
  • We had some time left before the Underwood tour was going to start (which is across the main road from this building) and thus we ended up here. Not many people know of this place but it is worth visit if you want to know more history of world war 2. This place was used to protect Germans from attacks. The fences bring the haunting pictures of the world war to you. But at one point it also helps you relive that this place protected people. You can visit the exterior till top without tickets.
  • This was one of the 4 main towers guarding Berlin from allied bombers. The Flakturm (Flag Tower) is a 12 storey high concrete bunker that is placed in the city. The bunker was provided with a space where people ( the largest tower had room for 20,000) could shelter during bombings and there was space for storage of goods. Sometimes art treasures were stored in the underground levels for safe keeping. They proved impossible to destroy by bombing or artillery fire. The tower was equipped with many Flak anti-aircraft guns which could be angled downwards to fire into the surrounding city areas in case of invasion. It was largely destroyed after the war by demolition teams. It is now in a park with gardens and its remains are overgrown and wooded. Considering it's history it is now a pleasant place to stroll and enjoy the gardens and events which are sometimes performed here.
