  • The Humboldt University is a stately, impressive building that is beautiful to look at and that radiates calmness and dignity.

  • It's what transmit these very beautiful buildings in Central East Berlin. A good student environment. The Nobel prizes in the first floor gallery emphasizes the importance of this institution

  • We could go to the first floor, where are the pictures of all the Nobel prizes. Sources pure to climb the stairs. It shows the old building, but also its history. We had understood that it was open always, but no, we were a day Sunday and it was closed, so we returned on Monday.

  • pretty to look at, but horrible as an employer. Didn't raise the wages for their student workers for 16 years and aren't eager to change that. prussian bureaucracy at it's best
  • Terrible employer of students. The university did not raise the wages for more than 16 years and is not willing to react to the students' legitimate claims. Really sad!!
  • After 16 years the only compensation for student workers is 44 Cent more at the end of the month? Considering that so many Services at the University are runned by students and would be totally impossible without their work? This is just ridiculus! I would give even less than one star if possible!
  • Free entrance and you can look around or use any facilities. Also there is a bookshelf in the main lobby where you can take free books: a great souvenir from Berlin!
  • I used to study business at Humboldt University and I can tell you this is a great place to get your Masters Degree. The Business Faculty offers everything you need: - very good and modern facilities - very good and renowned professors - possibility to spend a semester at a top university and business school abroad as an exchange student (which I did) - and many other very cool things. The study is challenging and the expectations are high but this is exactly what ambitious students want. All in all, highly recommended!

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
