Food & Drink
A hip brewery and bar, Hops & Barley maintains a rotating list of seasonal beers, offering visitors a chance to try something new every time they drop in. The bar's three rustic rooms are tightly packed with wooden tables and chairs, attracting both locals and tourists with old-fashioned charm and an outstanding selection of beers. As you walk in, notice the large copper vats scattered throughout the three rooms, visual reminders that every beer offered here is brewed on the premises. Be sure to try the bar's signature brews, including special wheat and dark beers. Keep in mind that the bar does get extremely crowded in the evening hours, so try to arrive early to grab a good table and engage in relaxed conversation with the brewery's friendly staff. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Berlin holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Hops & Barley and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.

  • Very nice place to have a beer. I liked they offered "specialties" that they regularly change. Beer is good and staff very nice. Overall we felt very good there, however I would expect a cherry on the...  more »

  • I liked it here. A decent range of beers (we went for the seven beer tasting selection (E8.50). The decor is pretty ordinary, but there was a room at the back showing football which looked quite fun. ...  more »

  • So this was my second brewery I visited in Berlin and by far this was really nice service. It had just tell snacks which was enough for me but if your looking for bar food choices this isn't why you would come here. The service was great the beer was tasty and the choices were enough. A variety for any beer lover with greasy service. Very happy coming here over the first brewery.
  • Nice chill bar where they offer good house-brewed options. Plenty of seating in front room, and then in the back room they have more seating with a big screen for watching football. During warmer weather tables are set up outside for enjoying good beer outside. Very relaxed and staff are usually friendly. Crowd is not touristy, which is very different for the area and makes this a nice escape.
  • Love this place. Beer and cider are the things why I visit hops and barley. Sometimes it is too loud and many times I couldn't find any free spot there, so be aware of it if you go there on Friday or Saturday night. By the way, they don't serve food normally, so if you hungry, you would need to cross a street and grab a pizza or burger in other places. Hope some day they would have discounts for people who goes there as often as me 😁
  • 2 Stars because of the good beer and atmosphere but not more as they don't accept contactless nor any card payment👎 also toilets are just sub-prime -> no paper towels left
  • Been here twice over a week's time, they have a good IPA, but haven't changed the beer selection much, maybe it's just the holiday season? Good relaxed atmosphere, decent price drinks and food, I like the pringles and nuts dispenser near the mens room.
