Garden · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Covering more than 210 hectares (520 acres) through the center of the city, Großer Tiergarten is one of Germany's largest urban parks. Its beginnings trace back to the 16th century, when the area was designated as a royal hunting zone. Later, as the city expanded and the hunting grounds shrank, the park became a popular relaxation area for the general public. Today, the Spree river and a number of important architectural landmarks border the sprawling park grounds. Look in the middle of the park for a large square with a tall column that the locals the Great Star. It was placed here in 1864 to celebrate Prussia's victory over Denmark. Stop by the park to take a stroll, picnic, cycle, jog, or play soccer with the local crowd. • I wish it hadn't rained so much as this was a fun walk & would be a great morning run. Still beautiful  more »
  • As you can assume from the title of my review, I visited this park in summer, and I can’t say that in that season it’s at its best. However, it’s relaxing to stroll around it.  more »
  • We had a lot of fun time, especially the pandas are wonderful as always, but we liked the Prague and Vienna zoo better to be honest. It’s a nice zoo though and highly recommended for a stroll :)  more »
  • Awesome Park! A ton of vendors and places to eat or drink and only a short walk from the S-Bahn. The abandoned amusement park adds a touch of creepiness to an otherwise beautiful place. I would definitely recommend that you check this out when the weather is nice!
  • Lovely peaceful place considering its right in the middle of Berlin. Loads of places to eat and drink, or just meander lazily. We walked to the main attractions through the park whilst staying close to the zoo and stopped for a bier or two every day on our return.
  • One of the most beautiful spots in Berlin. Right in the center and green as it can get, Tiergarten is home to many cafes, the victory tower and much more. Runs, cycle rides and dog walks are super common here.
  • While traveling through Europe with friends, we didn't have a place to spend a night in Berlin. So we came across this calm park and had a lovely night under the stars. No homeless people or noise pollution. In the morning we had a breakfast next to people having a morning run. Also! There are plenty of rabbits around there. And they don't even hide, although they don't let themselves to pet
  • A most beautiful place i have ever seen in Europe... I fell in love with this place.. so peaceful and calm place...a must visit.. Highly recommend.. Cheers
