  • One of the last watchtowers of the Berlin wall is right next to Potsdamer Platz, at the end of a small street, isolated and alone. We were very well received by a beautiful young woman who told me very clearly the story of the Division of Berlin, as was equipped the towers (with two guards who were not friends and not the same Corporation) and how it was done the surveillance system. It is worth climbing the ladder and allow a contribution to the maintenance of the tower and of the volunteers, because it is maintained with private donations.

  • We dropped by after a previous short stop on an excellent bike tour. The lovely girl on duty there, Sabrina, was friendly, very informative showing us photos of the local area during the Cold War, and...  more »
  • This watchtower is sort of hidden away in a busy modern part of the city. It doesn't seem to be that busy which is a big part of the intrigue. A young lady outside talked us through the history of it ...  more »

  • awesome little tower. good information both in German and English. totally worth a visit and not as commercial and crowed like all the other places!
  • This was a very nice place to visit. The guy in front was trully pationnate and shared with us the story of this tower and how the environment around it evolved. Even if you decide not to climb, you can easily take pictures of the inside and the outside. I would advice everyone to visit it if they go to Berlin, especially as it is a very important part of the history of the city.
  • Neat to find this little tower tucked behind Potsdamer Platz. The person "manning" it explained that keeping it open to the public is a private initiative. He also told us it's the oldest part of the Berlin Wall still standing in its original spot.
  • Berlin Wall Watchtower is passing my expectation. It is more memorable and more historical site of the collapse of the Communism than Checkpoint Charlie or East Side Gallery. In BWW, you could find the real sense of being separated from families and relatives. Sad feeling in your heart will came up immediately and finally you could praise the Lord that the Wall was finally broken dawn. What a humanity was treated as a bargain of politic!
  • Great piece of history! Definitely worth a visit and the local guide was awesome too!
