Dali - The exhibition at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin

Art Museum Museum
Dali - The exhibition at Potsdamer Platz is a house of the surreal, with more than 400 exhibits displaying Salvador Dali's genius. Look for the "Apocalypse of St. John" with holes punched in it--a painting that was blessed by the Pope and that Dali tried to destroy in a fit of self-abasement. English-speaking guides are on hand at the museum, so there is no need to book ahead. These Dali Scouts lead you through the rooms, describing paintings and sharing details about Dali's life along the way. The exhibits showcase more than 2,000 pieces of Dali's work gathered from private collections around the world. The modern building doubles as an event venue Put Dali - The exhibition at Potsdamer Platz into our Berlin family vacation planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Misleading publicity. The exhibition only has drawings, and none of Dali's more reknown work. Some of the drawings are reproductions. The exhibition is fine, but overall quite dissapointing when you expect to see some of Dali's paintings.
  • Very small equals expensive. Gift shop poor. Disappointment in the works on display with no reference to his well known works. Free coffee was awful.
  • Cheap sell out museum / tourist trap. Dont go. Some sketches fun to see. Maybe worth €2 and 10 mins.
  • The exhibition was only okay, it felt like somebody wanted to show a privet collection of Dali works and did not take the care to present it with great care. Moreover the stuff was quit rude and felt like we are not in a museum but in corporation where the workers are paid to do their job but not to be nice with the visitors.
  • Awful museum. Such a scam!!! Hardly any original pictures, most of the pictures are not famous and the entry price is very expensive.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
