Brandenburg Gate was built in the 18th century as a defining symbol of the city, but it ended up in the middle of the no-man’s land separating East and West Germany for the better part of the 20th century. Today, this impressive monument epitomizes European unification and continued peace. It often serves as an attractive backdrop for special events, such as concerts. Architect Carl Gotthard Langhans designed the triumphal arch, finding inspiration in classical Greek architecture. He chose this spot to serve as the entry into the city’s renowned boulevard of linden trees. Artist Johan Gottfried Schadow’s sculpture of a winged goddess commanding a chariot crowns the gate. • If you want to take photo without people, I recommend you to go there at morning or evening, this place is so crowded at a daytime.

  • The history is powerful and deep surrounding this iconic gate. Berlin: the story of a city is a great read for preparing to go and see the city of historic power. The square near the gate holds the American embassy, a star bucks, and a bunch of pickpockets, hustlers, and street performers working for a euro. The iconic buildings in the area have value in learning about prior to arrival too.
  • Brandenburg Gate was really impressive... I really liked it very much. The German authorities have done a lot of work that should be praised and applauded... The fine carvings on the walls give one a glance of rich German culture and architecture... Must be visited if one tours Germany.
  • It's feel like i am in Delhi at India gate. If you see from the centre to the victory tower. Amazing experience. Would love to visit again and again ❤️ So beautiful and adorable place
  • Iconic gate to photograph. Come for pictures and enjoy the specular art. It's not too far and a nice walk from other nearby attractions. There were also people blowing bubbles in the air to help you make your photos look beautiful.
  • Amazing attraction in Berlin. We were fortunate enough to see it while the sun was setting which made it look even better. Note to others, make sure you take pictures from the correct side of the gate :D We saw others taking pictures from the other end.
