  • I popped into these gardens twice. Both times with friends. The indoor educational section will be lovely when completely finish as it seems there are many windows not completed. The large glasshouses...  more »
  • Alone the old greenhouses are impressive, plant species of which I've never heard or seen until then. Very nice facility

  • Awesome place. The conservatories/greenhouses are amazing. You can easily spend an afternoon just in there. They have little seasonal pamphlets that tell you what areas are especially good in a given time of year which is nice.
  • Very big botanical garden. We were in summer, so no trees were in flowers. I think Spring is better time for visiting. Find time to go into closed building with tropical plants, trees and flowers. It was the most interesting part for us.
  • I don't think I've ever been inside such a big and cool glasshouse. The themed areas in the grounds were really nice to walk through too
  • When is sunny outside, plan it for whole day. You can explore nature or just lay on grass. Also there is a good cafe with german/austrian cuisine and huge desserts.
  • It is cool and proud that we FU Berlin have a self botanical garden. Very beautiful and more that thousands species here! But it's pity that not free to our student.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
