Set in a striking, early-20th-century building, Bode Museum is home to sculptures, Byzantine art, and one of the world's largest coin and medal collections. Admire the sculpture exhibit, and discover fine pieces such as Donatello's "Pazzi Madonna" and Antonio Canova's "Dancer." Study the Byzantine collection of ivory carvings, mosaics, icons, and more. Alongside the coins and medals of the Münzkabinett, you can find seals, tokens, minting tools, and non-numismatic forms of money. • For the most part, it just wasn't my sort of thing, I enjoyed seeing some of the items but the audio tour was very dry and didn't make for engaging listening.  more »
  • Good if not exciting. Not busy. Good collection of baroque material. Coins numerous. Good cafe in pleasant surroundings.  more »
  • The Bodebau at end of Museum Island has been beautifully renovated and houses today mainly a coin collection and a collection of Antiquities. All stylish and informative used in scene. In the building itself, there is also a nice Café, you can in a beautiful setting of some food and beverages. Wrongly somewhat neglected in addition to the Pergamon Museum, this Museum in other cities would certainly be a larger target.

  • The Bode Museum has a rich collection of religious art as well as numismatic collection, both spanning several centuries. The building is worth visiting as well. It has a nice café where you can have some cake and coffee, tea or hot chocolate overlooking the magnificent entrance hall.
  • This is a fine museum, if you want to enjoy an interesting collection of sculptures until nineteenth century (no modern art here.) It is worth visiting only to have a close look to Canova's superb Dancer. However, there are some other very interesting jewels in here. The ticket comes with a free audio guide, which makes the visit always more enjoyable. The building is wonderful, and having a drink on the top floor, by the monumental staircases, is something I recommend. Unfortunately, the staff could not help me to find some of the sculptures that I wss looking forward to finding, because of my poor German and their poor English. For some reason, I am afraid that, even though they came in my guide, they were no longer in the museum. Lovely visit, in general.
  • Amazing place. Do not miss it. Check item 385 - The fall of the rebel angels and The last judgement, just unbelievable peace of art.
  • It's confusing museum. Nice big interiors and few highlight in a sea of small not really interesting objets. If you are art nerd like me you will enjoy tiny ivory reliefs and anonymous wooden German altars but if you need big objects to be impressed it can be rather disappointment. Display is old and it definitely need update. If I would have rate stuff I would give them 0 stars. Weird odd people working there. I think some of them have serious mental disorders.
  • The house itself is worth the visit in my opinion. The collection mainly consists of sculptures, many of them very interesting. Their collection of painting did not interest me much. However their coin collection is awesome! Perfect for a rainy day since it does take some time to pass through.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
