Observation Deck Tourist Spot
Piercing the sky above the Berlin trade center, Berliner Funkturm is a radio tower constructed between 1924 and 1926. The tower stopped broadcasting in 1989 and is now used to decorate the trade center grounds. Visit the observation deck on the top of the tower for a panoramic view of Berlin. Beneath it, a fine dining restaurant offers a view of its own. Put Berliner Funkturm into our Berlin vacation planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Berlin.

  • To enjoy the panorama of Berlin it is possible to make a meal (35 euros without drinks) which allows to enjoy the comfortable view. things being well done the duration of the meal to make at least one complete turn. Naturally the view prevails over the plate but the meal is correct (a bit overcooked veal liver has has been the opportunity to discover a local specialty) and relatively cheap compared to the only visit of the tower.

  • On our last day in Berlin we drove past this tower. We would have been up in it, but there wasn't open yet when we arrived and we didn't want to wait. Opening hours are Monday at. 10-20 and Tuesday to Sunday at 12 noon. 10-23. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, but open Tuesday at 12 noon. 18-23 and Wednesday to Sunday at 2 pm. 11.30 a.m.-23. It costs 5 euros for an adult to visit the viewing platform and 3 euros for just to visit the restaurant. We think it would be fun to get up in the Tower, which is only 138 meters high, has 267 steps to the restaurant (you can choose to walk or take the elevator) and 610 steps to the viewing platform (here we can only take the lift up).

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
