  • It is truely amazing how the museum is very well organized and managed. We did not expect to get such a deep plunge into the history of WW 2 and soon realized that one visit is not gonna be enough. Hi...  more »
  • I found this museum to be very well put together and unique from most museums I've been to before. The fact its set in a bomb bunker sets the vibe and the way it's told in a precise order like a story...  more »
  • This is a must see if you like me have interest in the story it self! You really get a lot of pictures and new articles and also they display hitlers room where he last lived. They tell you stuff and ...  more »

  • Best place to learn about why and how Hitler and an entire nation committed genocide and started the world war. You can read along or get their audio player and follow along. Both options are self-paced. It takes a good hour if not three to get through the why/how story. Impressive amount of historical documents and stories with details and photography to tell the story. Warning: Very graphic. And it could make you cry/emotional. A must if you want to learn all about the history of Germany, how the war started/ended, who is Hitler and how did he rise/fall and how/when the genocide started/ended.
  • Well worth the money spent. There is A LOT of information provided. We were told that the museum would take 1 hour and the bunker 1.5 hours but we were here for 4 hours and still did not read it all. You could easily spend a whole day here. Well laid out and easy to follow. Really enjoyed it but maybe just a bit too much information to take in for a single visit considering the weight of the information. Very moving at times!
  • It is a bit of a rambling experience but it's in an air raid bunker so it's not exactly designed as a museum so that's understandable. There is a lot, I mean a LOT of information and history. It is fascinating and terrifying at the same time. It is an absolute must visit as there is a lot of information to impart. Would be better if you could buy a ticket that lets you return another day as there is too much information to take in at once, especially considering the nature of some the information. The place is doing a very important job passing this information on and telling the story in a non sensationalised way.
  • If you want history combined with look and feel, then this is the place to go. Take the full tour in the 3 stories bunker. Beware, for this tour, you will need 2-3 hours. Sadly, we arrived a bit late in the afternoon and barely saw it all, but nonetheless, was time well spent.
  • We attended the exhibition on Hitler: How did it happen? The exhibition was very long, and quite rambling with a lot of information that doesnt relate to Hitler himself but is more about the war as a whole. Definitely worth it if incredibly interested in history, or World War II. We paid a discounted price, but not sure paying full price would have been worth it. Do not get the audio guide, theres much more information written on the walls, and it sounds as though they’ve recorded a google translate voice which doesnt make it pleasant to listen to. There is also no structure to the audio guide, which regularly skips various sections of the museum and makes it hard to follow. Theres over 50 sections in total so you have to focus on what you find most interesting (e.g. Hitlers personal story) as the museum would take hours to do in full, and with limited seating available and no refreshments during the museum it can be difficult to remain focused reading so much history.

Where to stay in Berlin

The Kreuzberg neighborhood near the Oberbaumbrüke bridge is central and full of Berlin icons: street art, a piece of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery, and a proliferation of cafes. Friedrichshain is another option with a hip vibe due to the students who congregate at its cafes and galleries. Consider Mitte as a historic home base. Mitte is the area where almost all of Berlin's well-known buildings are located, and it is within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. For a peaceful residential area, try Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf where the streets are lined with boutiques and quiet coffee shops.
