#40 of 1,289 in Things to do in Berlin
Designed as a high-tech station for a newly reunified city, Berlin Hauptbahnhof serves more than 300,000 passengers daily. You can arrive via a short trip on the metro from the city center or from the airport on a special transit train. An 85 by 120 m (297 by 39 ft) glass ceiling enhances the main concourse's oval shape. You can browse an extensive selection of stores and cafes in the main halls. Of course, you'll find plenty of areas to watch some of the more than 1,800 daily trains pull in. This is the place to be if you want to head to almost any point in Germany. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Berlin holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Berlin Hauptbahnhof and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The station suffers from is still slightly below the architectural intervention of Mehdorn: in the model, the extended departures hall looked really spectacular – but in Berlin it must be above all glad, if a building is even remote gig set. Inside it is relatively generously built, many shops available. What it lacks is age the patina venerable stations in Frankfurt or in Leipzig - but that he has the appeal of modern architecture. And trappings is just much. An area that is rapidly changing.

  • A hochinteressates structure of modern architecture, functional and impressive. Large columns and elbows set the scene. A sensible signs facilitates orientation. Elevators and escalators are functional and have all works over several floors is managed by the flow of traffic, load lines break up the architecture. It is much tread available, so I never had the impression even at high train frequency, run over or "crushed" to be. In the basement of long-distance traffic on the upper floor the S-Bahn. I leave the station through the great Hall at the main entrance, I have direct views of the Regierungsvirtel. For the incoming tourists an interesting picture.

  • At the onset of winter which latter-day remembers you very quickly how this station lacks - heated lounges for waiting passengers. The restaurants were crowded Saturday 17.03.2018 completely. Experiencing rarely crowded and grubby fast-food restaurants. Arrangement of roads opens up quickly from my point of view - we are here no "regulars" and could still easily orientate ourselves. In particular on the tracks, for example in the area of long-distance trains there is no sheltered waiting areas. Up there face freezes in the winter one. Lots of glass, much steel - not repulsive, but also no building to the fall, functioning commercial buildings.

  • Greta room for the Price. Staff is very nice and polite. The location is good, around 15 mins aways from the train station. Also, they have a locker room in case you want to leave your luggage after checking out. I would stay there again.
  • I have stayed at this Hotel/Hostel twice and it will always be in my list of prefered Hotels/Hostels. I am 100% pleased with the services, the prices and the cleaning. I would definitely recommend it to those who want a decent accomodation and don't have high expectations. All I needed was a warm, clean and friendly place to stay and I found it here! Well done!
  • It is a huge hostel. Fast check in. Even faster check-out, i has foosball and pool table in the lobby also a bar with drinks and snacks. Its not too expensive. Breakfast atmosphere was a bit "hospital-like" Other than that i would suggest it to other people, its ok for a couple of nights.
  • over priced motel, the same price as any decent hotel, no Amenities, the cleanliness was not bad but i found insects in room. the linens are the worst ever. feels like the bed is wearing a cheap cotton underwear
  • Great accomodation. Low price, and very confortable and good facilities. It's not in Mitte zone, but it is 8 minutes away by walking from the berlin haupbahnhof (train central station) and 15 minutes from the branderburger tor
