Alte Nationalgalerie is part of the Staatliche Museen on Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally National Gallery (which has since been moved), the current gallery features Romantic, Neoclassic, Impressionist, and early Modernist artwork. The building itself is a work of art, representing "the unity of art, nation, and history," according to the designers. At intervals, it evokes a theater, a church, and a temple. Alte Nationalgalerie ia an art gallery which shows collections of early Modernist artwork, Romantic, Neoclassical and Impressionist. The building structure is unique and it was widely believed to be fireproof because of the using bricks and iron. It's great for visiting. You can admire the building's architecture and the wonderful collections.
Beautiful exhibition and what a nice museum... Clean and so well laid out. Le Louvre and all other French and Italian museums have to learn something out of it
Surprisingly enjoyed this more than the rest of the museums at museum island. It had some nice paintings
Beautiful little gallery full of incredible art pieces. Very relaxed and a perfect start to my visit to Berlin. Really glad I had the opportunity to visit.
Amazing art gallery. Recommend to at least expend half a day on this place. On Thursdays the gallery closes a bit later than the rest of the week. Check the website for special gallery exhibitions.
