Hotel Zum Turken WWII Bunkers, Berchtesgaden

(4.7/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Once seized by the Nazis and used as a bunker, Hotel Zum Turken WWII Bunkers, built in 1911, now serves as an upscale hotel. Although the guestrooms are modern, visitors can still descend a spiral staircase to explore the historic, 1943 underground hallways and tunnels where SS soldiers once hid out. (Many guests say it's a spooky experience.) With no tour guides available, you're on your own to explore; take a German/English dictionary if you can't read the local language. • These bunkers on private property is recommended to visit. All negative points which can be read in these reviews are absolutely to forgive, because this plant is still preserved as it was built in the 40erJahren and, as it is to meet today's requirements, can be therefore no attraction. (...und also not must!) Bottom line: rather in the original condition leave it

  • Who is on the Obersalzberg and is a little historically interested, have to look at the bunkers beneath the hotel to the Turks. At the entrance there are to buy much info material, the bunker complex is relatively large. A little more modern treatment would do good but the system, everything seems to have stopped a little.

  • I had read about this place but couldn't quite figure out how to get here. When we missed the bus to the main station, we came across it on our walk back. The WWII bunkers are absolutely fascinating! ...  more »
