That has impressed us and offers a good overview of the work of the artist and Beuys exhibition in Schloss Moyland. The wound fully restored Castle provides a suitable framework for the exhibits. The soup of the day in the Castle own Bistro (goulash soup from a can for € 4.50) is rather discouraged.

On the way back from the Holl Dutch North Sea Coast once again make a beautiful trip to Schloss Moyland it is worthwhile in any case. The rise in the North Tower is somewhat adventurous, but for the great views, it's worth. The entrance fee for the Castle and gardens is very civil. It was a beautiful end of our holiday.

  • Very nice gardens if you visit outside of winter season, early spring the blossoming of the cherry trees is nice as well. The castle inside is completely modern so don't expect a "middle age" castle experience (this was a let down for me). The museum itself may be interesting for someone who is attracted to contemporary art specially the work of Joseph Beuys (it's all about him) personally It is not my style. They exploit a lot the meetings between the Prussian emperor and Voltaire that took place here but there is no actual mementos about it just non-specific stories and a drawing collection that tries to mix this with Joseph Beuys (a bit of a long shot if you ask me). Also there is not much information about the uses of the castle during WWII which would have been more interesting a in my opinion, even Churchill was here once and all there is is a picture. What I found most enjoyable was the ascend and view from the North tower, you get a lovely view where you can see the bridge towards Emmerich Bedburg Hau and Kleve, plus it's an interesting hike.
  • Beautiful castle which many of the Beuys art. The garden is wonderful with good weather. The bar restaurant is OK.
  • Xmas market. Was quite traditional...bit boring I would say. The Reibekuchen and Wurst where perfect though.
  • I loved the architecture aspect but was not too fond of the particular art collection at the time.
  • Wonderful museum with lots of interesting exhibits, especially on Beuys. The new layouts are so much better than the old ones. The staff and guides are typically very friendly. The castle also is surrounded by very pretty gardens.
