  • Who's going with open ears through Bautzen, will hear frequently Slavic sounds: Bautzen is a settlement Centre of the Sorbian minority, which has also its own Museum. A large number of exhibits, many boards (of course bilingual) and you may contact an extensive library on the history of the national minority from the middle ages to modern times. Focuses on the awakening of the Sorbian national consciousness in language, art, science and culture, the time of national socialism, the GDR and contemporary. Sorbian costume and customs are likely to be well known, but who knows that there was the option on their own State or connection to Czechoslovakia after the second world war? A visit to the Sorbian Museum in Bautzen provides real knowledge.

  • Before this visit, I didn't know much about the Sorbian culture. In this museum vividly reports on the history of the Sorbs. I was particularly interested in the earlier spread and now some city names are clear (the origin)

  • The Sorbian Museum in Bautzen is highly informative. There is a good historical overview of the Sorbs. It was interesting to me and I would have liked more grappled me with the Suppression of the Sorbian culture. But unfortunately, it is not perfectly suited for a visit with children. There is very little interactive and so exciting it is instructive, but just for children little Museum with many information boards. The many costumes that have been issued for them were certainly most impressive.

  • Learn more about the Lusatian Sorbs!
  • The museum covers the span of Sorbian culture in Oberlausitz. The staff was incredibly helpful. Be aware, the museum is in German and Sorbische- so bring google translate or a dictionary for the tour.
  • Very cool little museum in an old part of Bautzen. There were many cultural displays of the history of the intricately hand-painted Easter eggs along with much more. This is a great old German city with a unique mixture of German and Czech cultural heritage. A recommended visit for anyone visiting Dresden, which is only 45 minutes away by train.
  • really worth watching
