Lake Constance (Bodensee), Baden-Wurttemberg
(4.7/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
The third largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Constance (Bodensee) is on the Rhine and has shores in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Within the lake, however, no borders exist--making the lake a cause for many disputes. You can stay out of the fray, though, and go for a swim, soak up the sun on the shore, or bike or hike along the lake. With many towns along the shores, you'll find plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy the local cuisines. The lake has 11 islands, some of which you can visit by boat. • Still correctly "Lake Constance", rather than "Lake Constance"-no such Lakes, is a city on the shores of Lake Constance. More still is a landmark in Germany. Austria got quite a small piece, and in Switzerland a lot of their more picturesque Lakes, though not such huge. Here you might like and just swim and enjoy water sports or a meditative contemplation, or sail on a boat. In General, everyone will find something for themselves. Plus, of course, colorful and rich history of towns or regions (Konstanz, Reichenau Island, the island of Mainau and Lindau in Germany; Bregenz in Austria; Stein am Rhein-Switzerland). Visit better, of course, in the warm season.
