Museum Frieder Burda, Baden-Baden

4.2
More than 1,000 pieces of art grace the walls of the ultra-modern Museum Frieder Burda, named after the printing tycoon Frieder Burda. All of the pieces on display are from the personal collection of Burda, who wanted the public to have access to the remarkable work he had enjoyed over the years. The open gallery spaces are inviting and harmonize with the garden outside with the help of large windows. Take your time viewing the painting, prints, and sculptures in this serene environment. • We will not resist the pleasure to return to this bright Museum the perfect interior design, white and glass, not stairs but gentle slopes to move from one floor to the other. One regret, no expo permanent, only to temporary exhibitions. Currently that of Rodney Graham and his "lightboxes", Canadian contemporary artist from Vancouver, he realizes large pictures in bright paintings, he puts in scene himself in settings sometimes very detailed through typical situations in different periods of the 19th and 20th century.

  • A wide range of artists were exhibited there. A wide variety of styles presented always again succeeded. Wonderful

  • Nice building designed by Richard Meier. Exhibitions are varied and human sized (not too long to visit). Don't forget to go on the -1 floor for video installations. Try the elevator. Entry price is steep at 13€.
  • One of Germany's best privately owned museums has recently embarked on extending their reach and started to present more complete and relevant exhibitions. The museum itself is located in a beautiful park which is also well worth a visit. The interior of the museum follows basic modern white cube principles but also breaks with some of them by allowing a lot of natural light, which can be nice depending on what pieces you're looking at. The Gursky exhibit was very well done showing a well picked selection of his work ranging from the classics to his very modern pieces dating back only a year. Heads up: getting here by public transportation is a mess. Take a car or share one if you can.
  • It's modern art, grouped with similar pieces together. Fairly small number of pieces.
  • Nice and very elegant painting exhibition in excellent location but I would not call it museum
  • Great museum!
