(3.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Lying on the Black Forest Hochstrasse scenic route, is one of the few cirque lakes in the Black Forest remaining from the Ice Age. The lake is 1,032 m (3,385 ft) above sea level, and its surrounding mountains offer excellent hiking opportunities. The highest mountain, Hornisgrinde, features a lookout tower at the top--the hike up takes about one hour. You also can take a stroll around the lake or rent a paddleboat. A number of picnic spots, as well as a hotel and a restaurant with lakeside terraces, provide plenty of places to rest. Our Baden-Baden vacation trip planner makes visiting Mummelsee and other Baden-Baden attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The Lake dimensions is quite more reduced than Titisee, but the setting is spectacular. Located at the top of a mountain, is of glacial origin and offers around different perfectly signposted trails for hiking, there are different distances and difficulties.

  • Always worth a stopover. Coffee and cakes directly on the Lake. Nice way lakeside stroll to run. Very often crowded in the summer. Parking is rather bad. The bread out of the oven is really tasty!

  • Why only on my 5th year in Germany we bother to visit this marvelous place, namely at Lake Mummel'zee, the path leads through a beautiful road along the Black Forest and Lake is just 28 km from our b-Baden, I slightly resembles our Altai Ayu, but our combination of something prettier, but more on that later ... As Ai at Mummel'zee has its own legend: once on the site of the Lake stood a convent and one of nuns (business as usual) fell and was greshna with whom-history is silent. God became angry and flooded the monastery together with all the maids-beauties that have become mermaids and Mummel'zee now their small homeland. The other living creatures in the Lake is not only evil inhabits her bottomless, as claimed by local, Nedra (according to official data, depth 18 m) Mermaids we certainly have not met, since bright light-im not a friend but who wish this meeting-on the shores of Lake worth hotel, welcome night at a small Pier. By the way, the newly built hotel of the year 2010 (previous burned 2 years ago ... брррррр) and that for sure, next to forest stands a small church:) Now, it's no wonder why the Brothers Grimm wrote here their "good" skazochki (I even the Daddy of them all, dochityval not afraid for my child's psyche fragile;) In General, all on the Lake for tourists: restaurants, equipped with walkways, fair with souvenirs, regional delicacies, and bread straight from the oven there.

  • Wonderful! Excellent hospitality! Delicious food! There are not enough words to describe how wonderful this hotel is at accommodating families. We opted for the four course meal and this was well worth every penny. The food was out of this world as was the waitstaff. As Americans, we feel like this is a hidden jewel that needs to be shared. The accommodations were luxurious and the sauna options were spectacular. Make this drive to see the view, enjoy a delicious meal, shop a little, and spend the night in the Black Forest.
  • A review of the area, not the hotel. Forget the tourist shop, and take a walk along one of the circular footpaths starting here. Steep, but they lead up to some spectacular views over the forest, and as far as the Vosges region in France over the Rhein. One takes you up to an old abandoned French radio station occupied after WW2.
  • There is a typical Baden-Württemberg Shop who sells food and local stuff. Also they have something like a Snackbar which is nice. We have eaten the Black Forest Cake and trust me....it has a lot of alcohol in it. (: All in all, if you visit the area you have to stop at this hotel and take a break.
  • We stopped here to have lunch. It is a very popular area. It has a big picnic area that you can sit down and also enjoy the Mummelsee view. The lake area is very beautiful, if you have time you should also plan hiking around, or at least just around the lake.
  • Beautiful lace to sit by the lake and tae in the views
