Lying on the Black Forest Hochstrasse scenic route, is one of the few cirque lakes in the Black Forest remaining from the Ice Age. The lake is 1,032 m (3,385 ft) above sea level, and its surrounding mountains offer excellent hiking opportunities. The highest mountain, Hornisgrinde, features a lookout tower at the top--the hike up takes about one hour. You also can take a stroll around the lake or rent a paddleboat. A number of picnic spots, as well as a hotel and a restaurant with lakeside terraces, provide plenty of places to rest. Our Baden-Baden vacation trip planner makes visiting Mummelsee and other Baden-Baden attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The Mummelsee is a popular stopover for a trip along the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. Especially when the weather is nice, you can enjoy a good view up to the Vosges mountains. Time for a cup of coffee or a small hike around the Lake.

  • The Mummelsee is a very small but beautiful Lake. He is also the crossing point for many mountain bikers, bikers and tourists wander,. Some coaches hit there, which lead tourists from all areas. With specialities from the region, a restaurant with delicious food and a shop for small and large gifts, it attracts all kinds of people. Unfortunately, the prices that are required there are quite high, and nothing for a small purse. Despite the high price, I can highly recommend the sausages because they are really tasty. For me, the biggest highlight is the wood oven bread, which is baked directly in front of the eyes. Also here the price approx. €3.80 per bread, baked from wheat flour, is higher than usual, but flair and the taste is unique. The Lake is surrounded in a short time, but you can extend time's, if you look at the art sculptures, which are exhibited there. A church is located at the Lake as well. The Mummelsee can not only complete, but also with a pedalo or rowboat crossing. The boat rental is five euros for half an hour, when one but five minutes later, is usually not bitching ;) The Mummelsee different routes lead up or down where you can also perform walks and is a good starting point for touring. Beautiful, sunny days it may be there quite full, who so prefer looking for the tranquility of nature, should either go there past on bad weather days or avoid it entirely.

  • Beautifully situated and a point of attraction for tourists... A beautiful Lake in the middle of the black forest. We had a nice trip around the Lake with our 2 dogs. It was going on, very much what was noticed only in the small shops.

  • A review of the area, not the hotel. Forget the tourist shop, and take a walk along one of the circular footpaths starting here. Steep, but they lead up to some spectacular views over the forest, and as far as the Vosges region in France over the Rhein. One takes you up to an old abandoned French radio station occupied after WW2.
  • Very nice deserts mired by slow and unprofessional service. Cappuccino arrived before we finished placing an order, which was already changed to ice coffee and we got an attitude for it. Cake arrived before ice coffee. Awfully unprofessional. Enjoy the lake, walk, view and bring a lot of patience to bare with their service.
  • Toller Abschluss einer kurzen Wanderung bei Kaffee und einem Stück Schwarzwälderkirschtorte. Herrlicher Blick auf den Mummelsee. Wir kommen wieder!
  • A must attraction to Black Forest visitors. Circle around the lake. It's a short but exciting walk.
  • We stopped here to have lunch. It is a very popular area. It has a big picnic area that you can sit down and also enjoy the Mummelsee view. The lake area is very beautiful, if you have time you should also plan hiking around, or at least just around the lake.
