Get views of a towering rock formation, or enjoy hiking and food at . Walk across the bridge to the formation, or snap some photos of the bridge itself from a lookout point. Take one of the many well-marked, hiking paths, or rent a paddleboat at the bottom of the trails so you can get closer to the lakes, waterfalls, and looming rocks. The panorama restaurant and food kiosks at the top are a great place to grab a meal with a view. The view of the Bastei bridge is particularly great. My advice: you have the most beautiful views from the Ferdinanstein (bastion Park, hotel complex crossing, bridge run towards and away up 100 m before you go left on the rocks with the small observation deck). During the day it is very light and the light is much better early mornings and evenings. Morning is - if you're lucky - the Elbe River fog with it and the rocks is beautifully illuminated by the rising sun. Be so very early there, in the summer, it is getting light to five. And punctuality is worth because there is not much space on Ferdinand stone and it is very crowded by photographers.

Who wants not much hiking takes the parking lot shortly before the bastion, there is about 10min to the entrance! Follow the tour and enjoy countryside!

Interesting in the middle of the week when there are no crowds. On the top you can drive by bus or car. However, you might want to enter on foot with Kurort Rathen very atmospheric. Where there are many restaurants and bars located on the Elbe River with beautiful views.

  • Mind-blowing nature space with ridiculous landscapes a short(ish) climb away. From the front the place looks kind of unassuming and then once you've up there, it's endlessly impressive.
  • Stunning views. The small additional Tour for 2€ of the firmer Fortress grounds is worth it for the amazing views. The Bridge is free otherwise. Very organized Shuttle and bis Service available
  • Unepxected scenery in North-East Germany. Breathtaking
  • Marvellously stunning, a must visit place!
  • since there's a road and car park, the place gets very crowded on weekends.
