  • For a short visit, we came to Thuringia. First, the Kyffhäuser stood on the plan. My mom was then on a visit to the panorama Museum. I was very skeptical, paintings are so not my thing. So really speaking I did not find the exterior then also. The path from the parking lot to the Museum was too long for my mom, who is lame. When purchasing the ticket, we were told then that everything was not disabled. So she agonized the long flight of stairs to the Museum up. Once at the top we were told then, that there is already a lift. But only in the company of the staff. Two men from the staff were then kind my mom each up and down go to and put off then concludes on an output it, where I could pick her then with the car (without to the parking lot back to shoulder this long way). I personally loved it. Unfortunately, it is probably not the norm to offer this option disabled, but rather the benevolence of staff. Find I pity that no value is placed on accessibility. Now to the actual panoramic image. When I was so shocked and speechless, I dared to breathe. Equipped with an audio guide, we then looked at the complete works. Half an hour passed much too quickly in my opinion. I regret in any way this overwhelming painting to have it looked at. Who has time then must turn in the accompanying Cafe with Sun terrace.

  • When it comes to the huge round Hall un first is overwhelmed by this detailed scenery. We had them give us the coachings for about 25 min and for our son the children's version. Always the guide below you can go to the each declared part of the image and knowledge be. The half hour's "Leadership" was very entertaining, even though I was first skeptical whether this kind of art can reach me. It was my permanent unnoticed eye contacts on his interested for our junior and partly gebanntes face confirm that - also interesting, although he said the opposite of course on the way back. Bottom line, the entrance of 7 EUR per adult was worth it but. and 3 EUR per child (12J.) + 3 audio guides per 1 EUR, have each 50 CT. per person discount. Get hotel guest. Must you have ever seen with the partly in the years run not deterred by outside of the Museum should be.

  • If you’re an art purist then this is possibly not the place for you ... but for anyone else it’s worth making a significant detour to visit this stunning panorama. The “purist” question is why a mid 20th century painter should produce a work rather reminiscent of, say, Bruegel. Yet the work is extremely well executed, with a mass of detail in each of the several scenes that make up its enormous 14m high circle, with a circumference of 123 metres. The English language audio guide is excellent and adds greatly to enjoying the work - we opted for the shorter version, which we felt gave a good level of detail. The painting is also a fascinating piece of social history, having been commissioned by the East German Government, to present the Peasants’ War as part of the glorious legacy of their people ... yet the painting does nothing to glorify the struggle of the “Peasants”, and is full of religious imagery that would normally have been an anathema to the Government ... you have to wonder just how happy the sponsors were with the results of their commission. The museum restaurant is good (of its type!). Interestingly, its menu features some typical DDR dishes, although these are not highlighted as such. When visiting the museum, make sure you also go into Bad Frankenhausen to see the church with the (steeply!) leaning steeple. If visiting by public transport, especially in the winter season, there are several more buses on weekdays than at the weekend. Also, note that some of the advertised buses run only if requested by phone two hours in advance! However, “normal” services run to and from Artern station. If arriving by bus walk up to the “crooked church” and then either follow the road to the museum car park, or the footpath that goes more directly up the hill. In places the footpath is quite steep and not made up, but it is an attractive walk.
  • The original purpose of this monument might be questionable but the artistic outcome is great
  • Love it or hate it.
  • Very nice Museum! Impressive, the form of representation. These exhibitions are available in any other interesting art. A dedicated Association leads events such as art courses for children and cinema shows through. The Café in the Museum is also recommended. Very nice host and fine facilities. Also a sensational location!

  • The painting is very impressive. You should sit on each case for viewing. It could be an otherwise giddy. The size and the round room upset the balance in some people. Too bad that in space no photo permission there.
