  • Skeptical, we entered the building in anticipation of hollow Monumentality with art workers and farmers. Instead a fabulous hand painted, exceedingly great image work, comprising many individual scenes himself, following the seasons, moving 18-metre high wall along. The first impression: here was a Revenant of Hieronymus Bosch and Peter Breughel at work - a "hidden", in which you are completely lost. Without the help of the (excellent) Director of, would have been hard as well as at Bosch, to decode the symbolic and historic scenes. Every detail of every scene is significant and often ambiguous - anything other than sheer Gigantomania or propaganda art. While you in the West of the Republic devoutly leaning part presented Bockwürstchen chipped up or bath decorated with plaster considered and profound whispered about their deep significance and social relevance with the help of free association, one painted in the East of the country also like to time altmeisterlich and estimated the craft. The latter was frowned upon in the West long time, and after the turn of the time of the "painter of the GDR" seemed finished. Quite recognisable by their artistic and art-historical importance again today. Only Ewig-Gestrige documenta fans turn up the nose. Should they...

  • The panorama museum commemorating the peasant war in 1525 the last battle. Everything is exaggerated: the cylindrical building, if managed right structurally to dominated the town, the huge painting by Werner Tübke reminder not only of the battle, but shows equal to the whole history of the Reformation. Without explanation you can't get through there, and it was in the nature of a seminar for art and cultural history. To listen exhausting even for the educated middle class. Not suitable for children and young people total or boring. Also the service of gastronomy reminiscent of DDR, with three bus crews, this was at the end. Is the kiosk at the parking lot and no figurehead defiled with graffiti. It is very nice on the way to the Museum, 500 m poppies, compensated. The views in the Thuringian forest is worth all times the directions.

  • Who was in the south Harz and explicitly in bad Frankenhausen and missed this panoramic visit Museum missed what in the truest sense. Years ago, I was there as an accompaniment with a school class and moved even where the language. An experience looking for which his peers and so quickly find is. I was there several times and every visit is an unforgettable experience. And then there is something it is important to find out in this monumental painting! So don't miss out!

  • Very watchable place. You must have seen the Tübke painting with 1700 square meters canvas. Probably the world's largest painting.

  • So for now, the building is impressive, yet these Eastern touch you feel what I find very cool. The staff seems bored on demand yet friendly. The image is gigantic. For the children who had a personal audio guide, it was not boring, it was been told very interesting and smart. For my wife and me that we are not art lovers, it was somewhat heavy food but the Professor tried to make it understandable over for anyone, it's just awful lot information in this huge image that can you just don't get in one hour explaining. In the end, I'd go back here because it was still very interesting.
