Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 90 reviews on the web
The medieval St. Anne's Church-- the earliest example of Renaissance architecture in German--was originally part of a monastery built in 1321. You not only can see the apartment where Martin Luther, the seminal figure of the Protestant Reformation, stayed during his visit to the monastery (now a small museum itself), but you also can visit the grand Fugger chapel, the burial place for the prominent family of that name. The structure's elaborate interior features a ceiling with colorful frescoes and intricate stuccowork.
