Rathaus Augsburg, Augsburg

(500+ reviews on the web)
Government Building Architectural Building
As well as being the administrative center of the city, Rathaus Augsburg is home to an exhibit on the history of Augsburg. While admiring the building's grand exterior, look for the large copper pinecone ornament--the symbol of the city. The striking building is considered one of north Europe's most significant Renaissance secular constructions. Step inside to explore some of its most lavish rooms and study its exhibits. You must pay a small fee to visit Goldener Saal, the most impressive of the rooms. Marvel at its large doorways, rich ornamentation, murals, and coffered ceiling. Visit the Rathskeller for Bavarian food and beer. Plan your Rathaus Augsburg visit and explore what else you can see and do in Augsburg using our Augsburg vacation trip planner.

  • The "golden saal" or the golden hall inside is beautiful and amazing. The entrance fee is cheap especially if you are student, anyway to enter the rathaus is free. You will also have a good view of the square down below from the hall.
