Augsburg Zoo, Augsburg

(3.6/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Opened in 1937, Augsburg Zoo now contains more than 1,600 animals of 300 species from around the globe. Although it's small, the zoo is home to an impressive variety of creatures, such as white rhinos, Asian and African elephants, and brown bears, which you can observe in their pool through a glass partition. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even ride one of the elephants. After visiting the animals, cool off in one of the dining rooms, where you'll find a buffet and self-service drink machines. Kids will love visiting the petting zoo to pet and brush goats, sheep, ponies, and other gentle animals. The attraction also includes a mini railroad and a playground with natural-wood climbing toys. • Let me start by saying that I'm an animal lover, so already have come into a zoo is just too much for me. It is connected and well organized, willing to see an animal specific signage, but unfortunately I have not enjoyed as all tourists the zoo in a totally carefree and fun. Plus I was seeing various types of animals, the more I attacked the heartache for them. Drastically reduced space for lions, rhinos, hyenas (including very lonely and sad in my opinion), the beautiful desert Fox closed by four glasses, elephants in a very small enclosure for two, and the sad Leopard, the only nice thing and allegra which I saw?! the space dedicated to lemurs, could run freely and play each other thanks to the presence of masts, ropes and wooden structures.

  • The Zoo Augsburg is small but very well maintained. The enclosures for some animals are too small and old-fashioned but the Zoo informs very well how they are planing to expand existing enclosures. An...  more »
  • I know other zoos, and have to say: all respect, this zoo is really exemplary. He is surprisingly generous for many - no not all - animals. And price, he is also recommended. The best, I like the enclosure where you can go in there and not just behind the fence.
