Kuchlbauer-Turm, Abensberg

(4.1/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
The surreal, multicolored observation tower, Kuchlbauer-Turm, graces the grounds of Abensberg 's Kuchlbauer Brewery. From the top of the gold-plated observation ball, Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser wanted to treat visitors to panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The organically shaped tower houses a collection of 4,200 Weissbier glasses, along with exhibits on the brewing process and the Bavarian Purity Law. • For a tour of the brewery is definitely an experience! You can get the brewery and manufacture Declaration to look like very fancy art in the Hundertwasser style, which ideally is adapted to the theme beer (as usual). There are also other creative pieces (E.g. cellar with da Vinci copy together with the "Theory of decoding the codes", talking dwarves, reference to nature etc.) At the end, you can see the tower itself and get a beer + pretzel. There is a large parking - because I have found a place even in the advent. The tour enjoyed all - even with children possible. A friend, I've recommended it liked so started (still sober!) - it has a Bachelor Party even the troop... Had the German tour of English speaking friends - at least there a workbook with explanations in English. Short films I had to translate something - that has made the head bit nervous even though it was on the edge and very quiet. But has already adapted... English tours there was just no - was a relatively spontaneous visit (booking the day before).

  • Because a friend near the town of Abensberg lives, we have been right from the start of construction on the project one hundred water tower with great excitement. I like the painting very much and felt also magically attracted by the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna. Now now, a tower, which was designed by Hundertwasser even in origin come land on it. Unfortunately, he died shortly after the first drafts of the fax, but the project was still perfectly implemented in my opinion. From outside we have admired it many times, but otherwise have let first by pulling the first onslaught and decided only later for a guided tour. Certainly ticket prices are higher here than in other breweries - but quite honestly: where there is a brewery just near attractions like this tower? For us, the price was so reasonable. The tour itself was awesome, our guide had a very dry, Bavarian humour. The many attractive dwarfs in between should lighten the whole thing probably, where the children can find the biggest favor but certainly rather. But the brewery was not our primary focus, but just the tower. And I found the mega class. All the little details you can discover. I liked to be super good. Here although there is a lift, but only up to full it moves upwards. Therefore, wheelchair can look at only the one room. The weather here, we had great luck. It was warm and slightly windy, absolutely perfect. At the end there was then another beer of your choice in the beer garden and a little too hard and dry pretzel, but she was not important anyway. All in all a nice trip and for those, like the Hundertwasser to recommend in any case.

  • After the visit of the Hudertwasser Haus in Viena I was really wondering about his next buildings. So I really enjoyed that stop on the way from Munchen. Nice biergarten.
  • Brilliant trip round the brewery followed by a memorable trip up the tower and a beer in the Biergarten! Good value: great fun, and tasty variety of beers. Hat geschmeckt ☺
  • Artistic valuable place to visit. Landmark of Abensberg.
  • Muß man gesehen haben!
  • WHAT A MESS! €17 for a cheesy would-be Brewery tour with only a pretzel and a tiny beer! What is this please? Hundertwasser would erbosen that a beer tent is on a horizontal surface. Also, what are these electrically missionary dwarfs here! Full coffee ride! I am not pleased! The Guide has nothing but don't have anything to do with beer and Hundertwasser! The Museum is very nice and the beer tastes good.
