Sitting next to the cathedral in Aachen's old town, the impressive was built in the early 14th century after taking over the ruined palace of Charlemagne. The building is emblematic of the civic freedom of the townspeople of Aachen. Its architectural foundations are Gothic, with Baroque elements added during the 17th and 18th centuries following the Great Fire of Aachen. On the north facade, you can see 50 statues of German rulers, 31 of whom were crowned in Aachen. Inside the building, check out the 19th-century Rethel frescoes in the Coronation Hall, as well as a collection of royal treasures and copies of the Imperial Crown Jewels.   • Opposite the Town Hall is a box that shows the construction of the building in time-from ancient "banquet room to modern species.

  • Very friendly clean city with many attractions! You'll feel welcome and you can stroll through the old town great. Great little boutiques with a great flair!

  • In combination with the Christmas market what culture. A well maintained building, you can visit different rooms with fine paintings and beautiful decorated ceilings. As well as the kroonjuwel of Emperor Charlemagne are exhibited there.

  • Neat building that charges for entry. Worth it if you have the time, and a good getaway from the afternoon sun.
  • The top floor has a large hall used for concerts and events. It's really quite beautiful
  • Visiting Aachen is worthy even for just visiting this Gothic building and the cathedral. They use to have very good exhibitions inside the Townhall.
  • Fantastic landmark within Aachen. Must see.
  • Really impressive building especially during evening when it is lighted with orange and yellow colours.
