4.3/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web
Sitting next to the cathedral in Aachen's old town, the impressive was built in the early 14th century after taking over the ruined palace of Charlemagne. The building is emblematic of the civic freedom of the townspeople of Aachen. Its architectural foundations are Gothic, with Baroque elements added during the 17th and 18th centuries following the Great Fire of Aachen. On the north facade, you can see 50 statues of German rulers, 31 of whom were crowned in Aachen. Inside the building, check out the 19th-century Rethel frescoes in the Coronation Hall, as well as a collection of royal treasures and copies of the Imperial Crown Jewels. To avoid disappointment, check for state closure dates on the city's website before visiting. • The Town Hall is a beautiful sight that the city of Aachen should not escape visitors already from the outside. We had the opportunity to see a piano concert in the coronation Hall / heard and were impressed not only by the music. The room is beautifully restored and detail love presents. We recommend everyone who has the chance of winning (the Hall is not always open to the public) sometimes to have a look inside, be sure to use them.

  • Good to see from afar and impressive and beautiful from all sides. Aachen got a really great Town Hall. Unfortunately, we had no time us inside to look around, the 5 euro entry are certainly worthwhile, maybe on your next visit.

  • The Town Hall is the landmark of the city of Aachen in addition to the Cathedral in Aachen, Germany. From the side of the Cathedral, you have a beautiful view of the back of the Town Hall, but the Panel is still watchable. The Town Hall is beautifully lit at night. Here life in Aachen is raging in the evening. Very much recommended!

  • Visiting Aachen is worthy even for just visiting this Gothic building and the cathedral. They use to have very good exhibitions inside the Townhall.
  • The top floor has a large hall used for concerts and events. It's really quite beautiful
  • It looks impressive but its outside does really need power wash or some kind of cleaning because the building is looking almost black.
  • Fantastic landmark within Aachen. Must see.
  • Not bad but building is so dirty that with its own shadow looks like big black hole who is swallowing nice square on which is placed... A pity. Looks much better from the opposite side.
