The Kremlin salt in Mestia cheaper will enter the Museum Tower, ask in advance the price. Granny often tells one and podkativshie granddaughter then ask for more.

  • Ushguli is worth a visit in any case, because the area of Mestia and Ushguli is certainly one of the most spectacular in Georgia. The visit in a day trip from Mestia is theoretically possible, better, it's safe to stay there at least once. There are now sufficiently many guesthouses, but also noticeably increasing tourism. The road from Mestia is paved up to the Ughviri pass, then piste in serpentine downhill and the Inguri Valley uphill to Ushguli. Overall, it takes realistic own Jeep about 2 hours. Some organized tour needs with particularly cautious driver according to another traveler if necessary but much longer. First, you reach Murkmeli with its many towers, largely uninhabited due to large avalanche damage, but life will probably slowly return. You can already see the next residential settlement of Chazhashi, shortly after arriving in the actual "Center" of Ushguli, the village of Chvibiani. Here are several accommodations, including off the main road, left the driveway slope to the district, the Ushguli-guesthouse, there are rooms with bathroom in the bungalow style and a restaurant. In the village centre, the small ethnographic museum is worth a visit. The son of the former residents through the exhibition space. The small Lamaria Church within fortified walls perched above the village on a small hill. It is worth a visit because of the ancient frescoes. You should organize the key advance in the village (over the accommodation). From here, but also from the location, you have a fantastic view over the Shkara, the 5203 m, the highest mountain in Georgia. Be sure you should take also the hike to the Shkara glacier. This can be kept (just) the 7 km-long hike is unexciting Valley, driving until the end of the runway with a jeep. The slope is pretty bad, especially after the sign to the right for a "Café". Overall, one must reckon with approx. 3/4 hours of travel time. At a fork in the slope trail leads further uphill to a beautiful view on the glaciers from above, right, the path going to the edge of the glacier. The glacier is pretty grey of the many debris lying on it. The trip takes just of the fork from approx. 3/4 h.
