  • The Museum is housed in a former Caravanserai. On the bottom floor, you can buy Georgian arts and crafts; Pictures, jewelry, clothing and much more. The Museum is housed in the rooms around the courtyard. Very nice models of houses in Tbilisi's old town are equal at the entrance. They are in the dark, the sparse light is directed not at them. Also missing descriptions (which address, when were they made, why,...) Then it goes on to various pieces of clothing this year of production and without explanation as to why they are here. In the third section should probably be informed about craft. There's some old photos on which many men are, but why they are gathered, and what they have to do with the presented professions, is unclear. It would be very nice if all of these objects could be provided with descriptions and explanations! So you have more questions after attending as previously. There is also a museum shop, which has picture postcards and books, partly in English, in the range.

  • There is a Hall with layouts of homes of old Tbilisi. There's also a Housewares that were used in the 18-19 century. A very interesting Museum. On the lower floor you may purchase minankari (Georgian enamel), as well as to participate in master classes for creating such jewelry.

  • On display you can find models (both mini and real size) of old houses in Tbilisi, craftsmen shops, taverns, etc. There are personal items and clothes that earlier inhabitants of the city used to wear. Old photohraphs and paintings which portray the city in the past constitute my favourite part of the exhibition. Not a lot of information in English. The museum is small which to me is a plus. It's not bad though would not go again.
  • Even If you have short vacation in Tbilisi I would say you must visit this museum. First of all this museum shows you who are Georgian people from beginning till our days, second of all I really liked how they present everything in there, and I respect them more. So I think this national museum is "must visit" for all tourists.
  • For this museum to represent the depth of history that Tbilisi has, it falls really short. Some very basic, set up decades ago show only the past 2 centuries. Tbilisi, you deserve better! We the tourists want to be inspired and amazed by your culture and history.
  • The Tbilisi History Museum was founded in 1910 as the City Municipal Museum. More recently, it was given the name of the famous Georgian poet Ioseb Grishashvili. Since 1984, the Tbilisi History Museum has been located in a restored caravanserai, representing the city's historic role as a Silk Road trading outpost. The museum houses over fifty thousand artifacts. They reflect Tbilisi's history from the end of the 4 millennium BCE to the present day. The museum presents archeological, ethnological and archival materials as well as the pieces of national and applied arts, and a rich photo-collection. A number of unique works of artistic and graphic arts are also preserved in this museum. Together with older works, the museum also exhibits pieces of contemporary art. Since 1986, many exhibitions of Georgian and foreign artists have been displayed at the museum.
  • It has a good repertoire of historical clothes, paintings and photography, mostly cXIX and cXX. It could be better explained, more staff, clearer indications that there's an entrance fee (they told us when we were leaving) and the bottom part is quite poor with what seems like tourist shops.
