Where to stay in Tbilisi

Strung out alongside the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi's historical core and bustling city center offers an array of accommodation options. Choose the fortress hill, the more northern residential districts, or a main street in the center of the action. Large international chain hotels offer luxury options, complete with fine dining, air conditioning, and more. However, you can also choose from more economical, mid-level options located around Rustaveli Avenue and Tbilisi's old town. For the lowest cost, consider one of the ubiquitous hostels.

  • Very interesting idea, it is fantastic that they brought houses from different regions yo one place but unfortunately there are maintained very badly, half of them was closed with lock on (all together we managed to see maybe 7 from inside), only in 4 a ladies told us a story about the place but they weren't dressed in traditional clothes like they used to be, toilet in terrible shape with 0 running water. Definitely not worth going so far to see it. Great shame as the idea is fantastic and this place could have been awesome
  • Exhibition area is very interesting, but better not to go to renovation areas. Great example of traditional Georgian households by regions in Georgia. Most or all examples are not superficial, but actually moved to museum from a particular area.and the entrance fee is only 3 lari. Cable car is near turtle lake
  • Big area with houses from different areas in Georgia. On Saturdays there are special events like bread baking, music, weaving.... Entrance fee only 3 Lari. Ask the staff on the ground and they will explain details and they opened even closed areas for us. They offer special tour groups in English and German for about 25 Lari
  • A beautiful open air museum. Walk outside in the meadows on the mountainside. Many wonderful houses from many regions. Easy to get to so spend 1 to 4 hours. Madloba.
  • Great museum - majority of the houses are real historic buildings, which were moved to Tbilisi from a different regions (disassembled, transported to Tbilisi and then assembled again). Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, willing to share interesting facts about the household peculiarities of different parts of Georgia. There's also a traditional bread baking sessions, taking place around 3PM.
