Funicular, Tbilisi

4.4
Built as an attraction and to enable people to take in the wide vista atop the Mtatsminda plateau, Funicular opened in 1905. This steep railway climbs above the city, allowing 360-degree views through the all-glass exterior. You'll appreciate the new carriages installed in 2012 that replaced older, more rickety cars. At the top, take in a view of the city, visit the restaurant complex, and head up to the amusement park that dominates the plateau for fun and adventure. Plan your visit to Funicular and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Tbilisi itinerary builder.

The best place to see Tbilisi. Advise podnjatsa evening. Seen from the height of Tbilisi in daylight and in a few minutes the lights of the night Tbilisi. Not transmitted beauty.

If you were raised on Victoria Peak on the boat or enjoy the Baku cable, local glass funicular you nothing to amaze. In the high season in the sweltering glass wagons stuffed many people both in public transport during peak hours-when the interesting species along the path is not nahvataeshsja. Makes a stop at the Pantheon, but there rarely goes. Travel on special plastic card (subway map and the lift will not work) costing 2 gel plus one way ticket 2.5 gel. Free travel for children up to 5 years. Just an interesting transport to the top of Mount Mtatsminda.

Beautiful place, there is a fancy restaurant on top of the mountain and the park is great place to walk around friends, family, or children.

Ordered an expensive dish, they gave me the wrong one, I realized after taking a single bite that it was horrendous, and they refused to replace it.

Where to stay in Tbilisi

Strung out alongside the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi's historical core and bustling city center offers an array of accommodation options. Choose the fortress hill, the more northern residential districts, or a main street in the center of the action. Large international chain hotels offer luxury options, complete with fine dining, air conditioning, and more. However, you can also choose from more economical, mid-level options located around Rustaveli Avenue and Tbilisi's old town. For the lowest cost, consider one of the ubiquitous hostels.
