New Athos Cave, New Athos
(4.6/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
New Athos Cave was known for many years simply as "bottomless pit." At approximately 1,000,000 cubic m (35,314,667 cubic ft), this cave system is a must for professional and amateur speleologists alike. The caves are made up of nine enormous chambers, each containing geological features including underground rivers and lakes, large stalactites and stalagmites, seemingly bottomless ravines, waterfalls, and oddly shaped deposits. For the protection and preservation of the cave, you'll use a railway that takes you to three stops, where you can get out and travel along walkways to take in the sights. Wear shoes with a good grip and a jacket, as it can be cold in the caves. Use our New Athos itinerary planner to arrange your visit to New Athos Cave and other attractions in New Athos.

  • Every time I come to Abkhazia, try to visit the new athon caves. Every time I feel the internal trembling! But even here lazy Abkhazians manage to spoil the mood. :(

  • The entrance to the cave as the subway. Platform trailers only dark. The door fell to us. Show caves nature created. The first playground dark circle. And the relief of the cave looks like an elephant. My eyes just a little bit accustomed to Saw bridge ahead. On pillars height of twenty metres. On the bottom look heart trepeshhetsja inside. On the bridge about three hundred meters to go.

  • Everyone who rides in Abkhazia I advise to visit the cave. Surprises and impresses with its masshabom and unusual beauty. Down goes a cozy trailer. Wear a warm sweater or jacket is obligatory and convenient non-slip shoes. Very interesting guide tells throughout the tours, which lasts just over an hour. In a cave music, which makes the tour more mystique and sensations. It is this unusual beauty I haven't seen anywhere else. People are cheerful, even joking at the cave. who was with young children, I want to say, kids are very tired there. Better with children already in school age. Tours cost 500 rubles, but this money is not pathetic. Impressions will suffice for a long time!
