#3 of 7 in Things to do in Mtskheta
Part of a monastery complex, Samtavro Church attracts tourists with its ancient wall paintings and tombs of the first king and queen of Georgia. Although most of the complex dates back to 11th, the foundations were set in the 4th century. When entering the monastery immediately catches the eye is the abundance of roses and a huge Samtavro Church. To the right of the entrance grows the Bush record, which prayed and preached Christianity of St. Nino. In general there are many shrines in the temple: and the miraculous icon of St. Nino, and part of the stone with its tombs and relics partly Shio Shiomgvime and Abibosa Nekresskogo and the tomb of the Kings. But a special gift of the monastery is the tomb of a Saint of our days, a cleric female monastery Samtavro Transfiguration in.-father Gabriel Samtavrijskogo (Urgebadze), which in the 1960s on the area burned a portrait of Lenin, and a whole life devoted to serving the Lord. His love for God was so strong, that now people who come to his tomb, find healing from various diseases, and its icon is considered miraculous and travels to different countries. He has a lot of sayings, one of them: "who learns to love, and be happy not only think that the love is the innate talent. Love can be learned, and we should do it. "the elder reveres all of Georgia, and is often referred to as his mom Gabrieli (Georgian sounds" father Gabriel "). Make sure you take here oil with the tomb of Saint and pray to him, and you are sure to receive blessings and healing!

The territory of the monastery is quite small, at the entrance there is a fountain with drinking water (salvation in the heat). You can purchase small crafts Associates monastery with a cross of St. Nino. To the left of the Church (if you stand to the input face) are cells and there is a museum on the ground floor. But as there are roses! Feel the love of those who care for them) you can visit independently, incorporating brief historical background from the stand at the entrance to the Church, but I think with knowledgeable person is there to go will be more interesting.
