Church Tourist Spot
Situated at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, World Heritage Site Jvari Church sits alone atop a desolate, windswept mountaintop. A Georgian Orthodox monastery founded in the 6th century, the site is where St. Nino converted King Miriam to Christianity (according to tradition) and erected a cross on an existing pagan temple. The current church is believed to have been built between 590 and 605 CE. Explore this site to get a sense of the religious history of the nation. Attempt to read the inscription on the facade, which is said to date the structure by naming the principle builders involved in the construction. • The monastery can be accessed by car and parking (free parking), and there remain approximately 70 metres to go. From the Hill on which the monastery opens chic look! From there you can see the fusion 2-x rivers: Aragvy and chickens, mountains, city. This is a fascinating spectacle, but I advise you to look for the children, because the low edges. The monastery itself is very old and beautiful.
